BIOGRAPHY

 

 

Johan Wilke is widely revered as a top commercial photographer, both in South Africa and internationally. He specialises in fashion, beauty, food and advertising. He follows his passion, documentary photography, whenever his schedule allows. 

Capturing the decisive moment drives Johan to create breathtakingly beautiful, visually demanding, dramatic images, an expression of the environments he immerses himself in. 

Johan completed a National Diploma in Graphic Design, at the Port Elizabeth Technikon School of Art & Design, followed by a Higher Diploma in Photography, after which he lectured in photography. 

Now based in Cape Town, South Africa, he has worked for a number of prestigious advertising clients and magazines both locally and internationally. 

Johan has exhibited extensively countrywide and his work has earned him several prestigious awards. He is a favourite with magazine publishers and has built strong working relationships with top production teams around the country. 

Johan has often been described as “the quiet man” and is a private person by nature, an observer at heart. He is driven and commands excellence in the works he creates. 

With his vast experience in the industry and artistic skill, Johan weaves magic with his legendary use of light.
